Training

Why learn to fly in a Cirrus instead of a 50-year-old trainer?

Because the Cirrus is the airplane you will fly afterwards. At Aviation New Generation in the Tri-Cities, you learn in it from the first lesson, with CAPS, the parachute for the whole airplane, overhead on every flight.

Most flight schools teach in airplanes designed decades ago and keep flying them because they are paid for. Aviation New Generation teaches in the Cirrus instead, because it is the airplane you will want to fly once you have your certificate, and every hour spent learning in it is an hour in type.

The parachute comes standard

Every Cirrus carries CAPS, the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System: a parachute for the whole airplane. Pull the red handle in the ceiling and the airplane comes down under its canopy with everyone aboard. On your Discovery Flight, your instructor shows you the handle before the engine starts, and tells you what it is for.

Our two factory-new G7+ SR20s, arriving in Q4 2026, add Safe Return: press one button and the airplane flies itself to a suitable airport and lands.

You learn the airplane you will own

Learning in a Cirrus means the panel, the autopilot, the checklists and the way the airplane flies are already yours on the day you buy one. There is no relearning a second airplane after the checkride, only the transition into your own.

  • The cabin: comfortable seats, a wide panel and a door on each side
  • The panel: a Garmin glass cockpit in place of a cluster of round gauges
  • The habits: the procedures you practise from lesson one are the ones you keep

Instructors who stay

Our instructors teach because they enjoy teaching, not to build hours on their way to the airlines. Training runs under Part 61 around your schedule, the airplanes fly from 6am to 10pm seven days a week, accelerated programs are available, and your checkride is with our own in-house examiner.

The first step

The best way to know is to fly one. Book a Discovery Flight: a real first lesson in the Cirrus at Tri-Cities Airport, with an instructor beside you and the controls in your hands. Or call us on 423-794-9870.
